Staff Spotlight: Art Hightower

At Changed Lives Ministry, we are blessed with team members whose personal journeys reflect God’s power to heal, restore, and transform. This month, we’re excited to shine a light on Art Hightower, CLM Assistant at the Men’s Ministry and Transition House Manager.

Art’s story is one of perseverance, redemption, and faithful service.

A Journey of Renewal

Art, 69, is the proud father of two sons and grandfather of three. For 45 years, he worked in his family’s construction business after attending Anderson College. Though his life included many blessings, personal struggles with addiction eventually led to the dissolution of his marriage and a difficult season of brokenness.

That season became a turning point when Art entered the 91-day recovery program at CLM. Completing the program was more than an accomplishment—it was a life-changing experience. Through discipleship and devotion, Art recognized the importance of continued growth and was inspired to give back.

From Volunteer to Ministry Leader

After graduation, Art began volunteering at the CLM Resale Store, where he faithfully served for two months and participated in daily devotions. His dedication did not go unnoticed. Encouraged by the director and supported by his family, Art accepted the opportunity to join the men’s ministry staff.

Today, he serves as a CLM Assistant and Transition House Manager, where he helps men who are navigating life after recovery. Each morning begins with an hour-long devotion led by staff or a local pastor, setting a strong foundation for the day. From there, Art’s focus is on supporting the facility and guiding individuals as they work to rebuild their lives.

Finding Purpose in Service

For Art, the work is more than a job—it’s a calling. He describes it as “extremely rewarding,” especially when he witnesses the impact of faith and community on someone’s life. One devotion in particular stands out to him, when a participant shared how God had carried them through hardship. Moments like this remind Art of his own journey and strengthen his commitment to serve.

Art is quick to express gratitude for the support of Pastor Henry Shaffer, Pastor Rich Carrasquillo, his fellow staff, and most of all, God’s steadfast love.

A Life Changed to Help Change Lives

Art’s story is a powerful testimony that no matter where you’ve been, God can redeem, restore, and use your life for His glory. Today, Art walks faithfully in his calling, offering hope, guidance, and encouragement to the men at CLM—living proof that changed lives truly change lives.
